Body of second man found after boat capsized - Narooma


The body of a man has been located on the state’s south coast, after a boat capsized early last week.

Shortly after 6.15am on Tuesday 10 March 2020, two men launched their boat at Apex Park boat ramp, Narooma, before it capsized navigating the Narooma Bar.

One of the men, a 75-year-old, was retrieved from the water and members of the public performed CPR on him before emergency services arrived.

Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.

Officers attached to the Marine Area Command commenced a search for a 32-year-old man.

The search effort included officers from South Coast Police District, Marine Rescue, Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Surf Lifesaving Australia.

About 7.30am today (Wednesday 18 March 2020), the body of the 32-year-old man was located approximately 200m offshore by a member of the public near Glasshouse Rocks, Narooma.

Police and NSW Maritime attended and the body was brought to shore. The body was formally identified as that of the missing 32-year-old man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
