A new food truck will showcase Narooma’s world class oysters and help rebuild the local economy devastated by bushfires, thanks to a grant from the Business Council's bushfire recovery charity BizRebuild.
BizRebuild say "The food truck is a crucial element of the locally developed recovery plan and newly rebranded Narooma Oyster Festival which is designed to attract critical tourist dollars back to the region, keep local businesses going and create new jobs.
"The $55,000 grant will help Narooma Oyster Festival achieve its mission, giving local farmers the chance to take their products directly to consumers and boost the profile of local produce.
BizRebuild chair Sir Peter Cosgrove praised the strength of the community and its innovative approach to a business-led local rejuvenation.
“The determination of businesses who have lost so much in the bushfires coupled with the impacts of COVID, has been a testament to the resilience of these devastated communities,”
“Business is the glue that keeps communities together. Whether it is bushfires or the pandemic, we need businesses to pull through and keep communities together,” Sir Peter said.
Business Council chief executive Jennifer Westacott said the funding would boost the benefits of the Narooma Oyster Festival and help local efforts to breathe new life into the region.
“We’re thrilled to be contributing to help supercharge the impact of the festival and inject some hope and confidence back into the community.
“BizRebuild will continue to work with communities across the country to keep their local businesses open, bounce back and give them the hope they need to come out stronger on the other side,” Ms Westacott said.
