Bingie PopUp Exhibition this Long Weekend

Meringo artist Yvonne Atkinson is holding a Pop-Up exhibition/sale of her domestic pottery, coil sculpted pots and abstract paintings.

Yvonne has been potting for over 40 years and loves the whole process from digging and preparing her own clay, throwing pots on her kickwheel, hand sculpting coil pots, and firing them.

Robert, Yvonne’s husband, has built 3 kilns which they enjoy firing together. A substantial amount of wood is required for each firing which takes up to 16 hours. All the wood is sourced locally which is chopped into different lengths for each kiln.

Yvonne uses mixed media for her abstract paintings which have many layers of brush strokes. The paintings have been skillfully framed by Robert using recycled cedar or pine.

Yvonne studies sculpture, pottery, and painting at Canberra School of Art, with Anton Dabro, Alan Peascod, and Jan Brown as her teachers.  Robert and Yvonne have lived at Meringo for 35 years and they are looking forward to meeting folks who come to the exhibition at
