Bega Outdoor pools ready to open

With warmer weather on the way, Council’s outdoor pools in Bega, Bemboka, Candelo, Cobargo and Eden will open for the 2021–22 season next Monday (27 September). The Sapphire Aquatic Centre re-opened earlier today.

Bega Valley Shire Council’s Aquatic and Leisure Facilities Coordinator, Nic Hoynes, said key projects from the renewals program were completed during the off-season.

“We’ve repainted the pool at Bemboka, installed a new pool filtration pump at Candelo, new lane ropes at the Sapphire Aquatic Centre, and new pool cleaners at Bega and Cobargo,” Mr Hoynes said.

“We’ve also repaired failed tiles and grout at Eden, Candelo and Bemboka, changeroom floor coatings at Bega, and roof guttering at Cobargo and Bemboka; as well as undertaking general building and landscape maintenance.

“The completion of these projects promises to provide all our pool users with a safer and more enjoyable experience, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back soon, in a COVID safe way of course.”

To continue to provide a safe environment for our community and visitors, COVIDsafe processes will once again be a part of our facilities and service provision, including:

  • maximum capacities at each facility based on area, with booking systems to be implemented if required

  • Service NSW QR code / sign in – please show confirmation to staff

  • maintaining good personal hygiene, including regular hand washing and sanitising

  • additional requirements for group bookings and events.

Please do not visit our pools if you are unwell, have any cold or flu-like symptoms, have been to a hotspot or area of concern, or are a close contact of a confirmed case.

“We appreciate your understanding as we continue to operate according to the relevant Government restrictions and COVIDSafe requirements. We ask that pool users observe and follow NSW Government heath advice and restrictions, as well as instructions from our facility staff and contractors,” Mr Hoynes said.

There has been a minor increase to the casual entry and season ticket prices from 1 July 2021, in line with Council’s adopted fees and charges for the 2021–22 financial year.
