A man wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant will appear in court today charged following the alleged wounding of another man on the state’s South Coast earlier this week.
About 10.15pm on Tuesday 22 March 2022, emergency services were called to a home on Beach Road, Surf Beach, following reports of a domestic violence-related incident between a man and woman.
An 18-year-old man attended the property, where it will be alleged he attacked a 29-year-old man known to him with a tomahawk before fleeing.
The older man suffered injuries to his legs and abdomen and was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District issued an arrest warrant for the younger man, and following inquiries, he presented to Batemans Bay Police Station, about 12pm yesterday (Thursday 24 March 2022).
He was arrested and charged with one count of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence).
The Surf Beach man was refused bail to appear in Batemans Bay Local Court today (Friday 25 March 2022).
