Alert: Distressing VIDEO being shared on social media

Office of the eSafety Commissioner advises: eSafety is aware of distressing reports about a suicide video circulating on social media. We’ve contacted the social media platforms and are working together to monitor the situation. Please follow our advice below. * If you see this video online report it to the social media platform it’s on, or to eSafety at www.esafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content. * We encourage parents, carers and educators to avoid raising the issue with young people who may not have heard or been exposed to this video. Drawing attention to the issue may cause unnecessary worry or distress and increase exposure. * Monitor young people who are more vulnerable and at-risk. If a young person is presenting with signs of distress, schools should follow their own procedures for managing and supporting students at risk. * If a life is in danger call Triple Zero (000) right now. * Anyone who may be at risk or experiencing emotional distress, including worried family and friends, to contact one of the following services: Kids Helpline Official 1800 55 1800. https://kidshelpline.com.au/ Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467. https://www.suicidecallbackservice.org.au/ headspace 1800 650 890. https://headspace.org.au/ Lifeline 13 11 14. https://www.lifeline.org.au/ Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636. https://www.beyondblue.org.au/
