Hotondo Homes in Batemans Bay have received the prestigious Hotondo Homes’ Make-A-Wish Event of the Year award for their support of the annual Broulee Bay to Breakers Ocean Swim.
A record number of entrants made a splash this year in the Broulee Bay to Breakers Ocean Swim, with a total of 420 brave competitors taking to the water for the special occasion. Their efforts raised a total of $8023.25, with all funds raised donated to Make-A-Wish® Australia to help grant the wishes of children and teens facing a life-threatening illness.
Local Hotondo Homes builder Darren Phillips couldn’t believe it when his team's name was read out at the Singapore based national conference.

“I was definitely shocked, this is the eighth time that we’ve been the major sponsors of this great event. We are so proud to support such a great initiative through an event like this,” Darren said.
“It took many hours of teamwork but we’re extremely proud of our efforts, the whole thing would never have been possible without the support of our local community, suppliers, trades and staff.”
They’re already brainstorming new and innovative ideas for next year’s event.
“We believe in the power that hope gives these children and are looking forward to supporting this great charity in the future. We’re already throwing ideas around the office about the kind of things we can do in the future to top our efforts,” he said.
“It’s so important to be a part of something like this because having a sick child is any parents’ worst nightmare. If we can help even just one wish come true, then any work we put into supporting an event like this is worth every single second.
Hotondo Homes in Batemans Bay were also named runners up for the Excellence in Customer Service Award. It’s a testament to the level of service they provide each new home owner.
“We really pride ourselves on personalising the experience for our clients. We know building a new home can be a stressful process, and we’re dedicated to making it as a simple and enjoyable as possible,” Darren said.
Make-A-Wish has been making life-changing wishes come true in Australia since 1985. Research shows that wishes complement medical treatment, helping to calm, distract and empower sick kids at the time they need it most. When a wish is realised, a child discovers that despite their situation, anything is possible.
This year, Hotondo Homes and Make-A-Wish are celebrating five incredible years together. In that time they’ve raised over $300,000 through events just like the annual Broulee Bay to Breakers Ocean Swim.
