WHILE the executive is assuring prospective members that they will not be called upon to speak Moruya Probus Club does every month (except September*) hear speakers on an astonishing range of subjects.
Over the last year or so topics have included Life With a Seeing Eye Dog, 30 Years in the RAAF, Gauchos, earthquakes and Hostages, Experience with Space Agency Tidbinbilla, Aboriginal Groups From Sydney To the Victorian Border, Pilates, Heroes of the Eurobodalla, Tomakin History and Big Foot, Yeti and Yowie…and more.
Speaker at the August 27 meeting, where prospective new members will be welcome, will be Ross Thomas who will talk about U3A…University of the Third Age.
Moruya Probus meets at Moruya Golf Club at ten-o’clock on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
There are many advantages with being a member of Probus. Apart from meeting new friends, and sometimes some old ones, there are opportunities of being involved in outings. There are discounts for some members with restaurants and hotels and more reasonable travel insurance rates that seniors may otherwise be offered. And there are no obligations to give talks. Anyone considering membership should call President Diane Montgomerie on 4471 8629. Or turn up at a meeting.
*No speakers at the September meeting as that’s the month for the photo competition results.
