National Volunteer week and Eurobodalla Local Hero

National Volunteer week, the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers and volunteer involving organisations begins on Monday May 20th. From 20–26 May 2019, thousands of events will be held across the country to say thank you to the six million Australians who volunteer their time. The week-long celebration will include breakfasts, morning/afternoon teas, and luncheons, as well as open days, award ceremonies, picnics, forums and training sessions. In the Eurobodalla the Council hosts the annual Local Hero Award This annual award recognises residents who make outstanding contributions to our community; people who give up their own time for the benefit of others and for our community as a whole. Each year Council calls for nominations in the run up to National Volunteers Week, during which the winners are announced at a ceremony held in the beautiful Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden. This year, nominations closed on Friday 3 May, 2019, and Council will host a celebration for the winners at Thursday 23 May, from 11.30am
