The Beagle Editor,
The recent events at a meeting of the Eurobodalla Council brought into question the accuracy of the meeting minutes and why parts of the ‘Live Streaming’ recording of the meeting were removed from the public record, several minutes in fact. The called the editing of the video of the meeting “expunged” however to most of the community it was blatant censorship. Irrespective of what they say about their rights to edit video the actual Meeting minutes should accurately reflect what took place in line with decisions made to matters on the agenda. Minutes are not a description of events that take place. They are to provide truth and accuracy for factual recording and historic value of proceedings. If minutes of Council meetings do not accurately reflect what takes place (the proceedings) at council meetings the blame lays with the Mayor and Councillors. No one else.
It’s the Mayor and Councillors who sign off on the Minutes, not the General Manager or other employees.
