The Beagle Editor, I am very concerned to read in the local press that Dr Catherine Dale intends to put forward a motion next Tuesday to end the live streaming of council meetings. I felt it was such a marvellous idea when it was introduced as it really made the meetings open to all, regardless of work commitments. It also put an end to rumour mongering as it was so much easier to know the truth of what was said and by whom. Open government is surely best for everyone! Councillors, I request that you oppose this retrograde measure at Tuesday’s meeting. I am also somewhat concerned by the timing of this proposal and suspicious that it was deliberately being put forward when politically interested people are occupied with the state elections. Sorry if that seems cynical. If for some reason you plan to support the motion, could you please share with me your reasonings during the debate . Kathie Thackray
