MACS: What’s on in MARCH 2019


Montague Art & Craft Society Inc. (MACS) in Narooma is a recreational arts facility established in 1981, which offers its members a place to work together in creative groups It also conducts workshops for members to upgrade and diversify their skills; and opportunities for members to exhibit their work. MACS is a not-for-profit organisation providing members, visitors and the local community with facilities, encouragement, education and promotion of the arts. MACS have more than 180 members and presently have studio space at 24 Glasshouse Rocks Narooma. This studio space enables them to provide space for textiles, Life drawing, mosaics and ceramics, drawing and painting. They currently share space with the Mens Shed and are presently open 3 days a week. This however will change in October to 7 days a week if required. MACS now also have more space and better parking and welcome people with a disability to join studio or workshops if they wish to participate. Members participate in local community festivals, such as Boats Afloat, the Narooma Oyster Festival and the River of Art Festival and Rotary Markets and often collaborate with the Yuin peoples and local schools. MACS also very successfully run the Narooma Visitor Information Centre (VIC) and are open 7 days a week having a small gallery at the VIC to display members art and craft with MACS members work as volunteers at the VIC. STUDIO GROUPS Every week (Studio fee $2 for Members and $5 for Visitors for two visits before joining) Mondays 1pm - 4pm Textiles - Creative Threads - crochet, knit, sew… Tuesdays 10am En plein air Drawing and Painting (*see site maps) Wednesdays 10am - 1pm Mosaics - on pavers and rocks - some materials provided Wednesdays 10am - 1pm Pottery - includes hand-building lessons for Beginners Wednesdays 1pm - 4pm Drawing - plus Ink and Water Media, all skill levels Fridays 10am - 12pm Life Drawing - Great models, Beginners welcome (Life drawing is an additional $10 for Members and $15 for Visitors to cover the model fee.)
