Tuross Head Men’s Bowls

The Grade 5 Pennant side continued on their winning way with another good performance in very tricky, windy conditions at Dalmeny. Once again the victory was based on an excellent performance from Joel Hilliard’s team of Stan Peck, Noel Downie and Peter Davies. They had the better of their match running out convincing winners 32 – 10.

Ivan Balentovic, Peter Bird, Bruce Taylor and John Monks had a very exciting tussle on their rink. Down early they fought back in the middle rinks to grab the lead. Their opposition staged their own comeback and regained the lead 20 - 19 with an end to play. Good bowls from Balentovic and Bird set the platform on this last end and they were able to pick up the two shots necessary to win 21 – 20.

John Fahey’s team also had a close battle in a match were the fortunes fluctuated. The lead changed several times with neither side in control. The Dalmeny team gained the advantage in the last few ends to claim victory 21 – 16.

Tuross are now unbeaten after the first round of matches. They won this encounter by 69 shots to 50 picking 9 points to 1. Next week they are at home to Moruya.

The Grade 7 had a bye and will travel To Malua Bay next week.
