Church Street Moruya closed while electrical faults repaired

Thursday afternoon saw Fire and Rescue NSW Station 384 Moruya called to transformer fire/ explosion in Church Street Moruya. The P384 crew reported that the road was blocked for many hours while Essential Energy assessed the cause and extent of damage and then had to replace transformer. The crew posted "Power outages were experienced due to this throughout Church Street and the Main Street of Moruya. "Thank you the motorists and pedestrians that were patient and took the advice of firefighters whilst we conducted traffic control and had an exclusion zone in place in the event of leaking oils from the transformer or should something else had fallen. Two fuses from the transformer did explode and fell to the ground." The work required the traffic lights in Moruya to be turned off. and there were power outages along Church Street affecting shops, offices and the post office.
