Treasure Hunt with Computers at EuroSCUG

An exciting programme for 2019 resulted from the recent EuroSCUG Committee Planning Meeting. EuroSCUG (Eurobodalla Seniors Computer Users Group) is a group of people who share computer skills in a supportive social atmosphere, helping each other make the best use of their computers, tablets and smart phones.

After a fabulous Christmas Party at Moruya Golf Club, with beautiful food, and great entertainment provided by some of the members, members are looking forward to their first meeting for 2019, at 10am on Wednesday 6th February, at Moruya Golf Club.

At the meeting, popular local genealogist Cora Num will return to give a presentation entitled “Trove – One Search, a Wealth of Information”. Hosted by the National Library of Australia, Trove searches across over 470 million items to find requested information. As Cora says ‘There is something for everyone in this Treasure Trove!’

After morning tea, members and guests will divide into small groups, including one where Cora will answer genealogy questions. Other groups will cover Google Minis, Storing Photos, Tables or Tabs in Word, and Apple iPhone Basics. The Help Desk will answer questions on Windows PCs, Android phones/tablets and other general enquiries.

EuroSCUG is holding an Open Day, from 10am to 12 noon on Wednesday 20th February, at Moruya Golf Club, at which members will be available to answer questions about the various ways in which PCs, tablets, and Apple and Android smartphones can be used. Everyone is welcome to come and share a cuppa and chat.

The dynamic group has been functioning for over 10 years, with many of the original presenters still volunteering their time. To ease the burden on this small group, and allow them to take well-earned breaks, the group is always looking for more volunteers to share their computer expertise.

Members meet at 10am on the first Wednesday of the month at Moruya Golf Club, and local area groups meet regularly in towns along the Eurobodalla. Monthly tablet groups (iPad and Android) are also held.
