Submissions welcome to Princes Highway planning

The Editor

The Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities has agreed to to something about the Princes Highway Corridor and has contracted the company GHD advisory to advise on the matter. In the Eurobodalla Shire area there are many matters with the current Princes Highway Corridor that need attending to. Road alignments and town by passes are a couple of the significant matters that need immediate attention, starting at Batemans and the Clyde River heading south.

Objectives of the Strategy GHD have to address include:

. Promoting better access and connectivity to and along the corridor

. Improving safety and providing efficient driving conditions along the length of the corridor

. Activating the corridor as a means to drive better regional development and industry performance

. Promoting more efficient and environmentally sustainable use of the corridor.

. Supporting corridor investments which are value adding, well- informed and linked together as part of an vision for the corridor.

Apparently the Australian Government and the NSW Government, the Government of Victoria and the Government of South Australia is delivering the Princes Highway Strategy. The Strategy is expected to be delivered by mid – 2019.

It’s important residents of the Eurobodalla Shire are aware of what’s presently occurring with the Princes Highway in the Eurobodalla Shire. You can make submissions to GHD in writing by email

to community.input@ghd.com offering ideas about how the Princes Highway Corridor in the Eurobodalla Shire can be improved for everyone’s benefit.

A Natural Gas Pipeline for example could be included in the Corridor and so could a rail arrangement, catering for the ageing populations.
