Go count boats they said, all weekend they said

The Beagle Editor, You might be wondering why I have sent you a picture of a Eurobodalla Shire Council truck at the Apex Boatramp Narooma. Well, I have been wondering why there has been a Council truck parked at the boat ramp in Narooma for the last few weekends, for hours at a time! So curiosity got the better of me today, and I went and asked the driver - he informed me that Council were doing a survey to check that the boat ramp car parks were able to handle the number of vehicles. Further inquiries revealed that nearly every boat ramp in the Eurobodalla Shire has had the same inspections. And that Council staff have been paid weekend penalties for conducting the work. 'News Flash' to the management at Council "not many people go fishing this time of year, our busy times are Christmas through to Easter" I have now learnt that they did Hanging Rock a few weeks ago, same at the North and South side of the Bay the last two weekends. and they were at Mossy Point yesterday while there was wind and swell with no one at the ramp. We have very strong fishing clubs in the area who know exactly how the carparking works and when it is at peak and how the overflows work. Instead of paying Council staff penalty rates to sit around for hours counting boats in a low to shoulder period (good luck to them and I have nothing bad to say about staff just doing their job and doing what they are told) but how about we find out who authorised this. Is this survey being paid for with rates or from the Better Boating fund using our fishing licences and trailer registrations? Not impressed Name and address supplied
