The Tackle World Moruya fishing report as at 19th Oct

Your UP to DATE local fishing report from the team at Tackle World Moruya

Moruya and Tuross river

With several warm days as of late the water temperature is sitting around 20 degrees celcius and the estuaries have come alive.

Good reports of flathead around the Anchorage in Moruya. Soft plastics like Squidgie twintail bio grub have proven very successful this past week. The entrance to Ryans Creek and the sand flats just past the hospital have also been productive areas.

Tuross river has seen a very hot bite for many species including flathead, whiting, bream, salmon and estuary perch, with Graham and John enjoying a great session using Jackson Pygmy poppers (check out the pics on Instagram – twmoruya).

Flathead are being caught right up in the shallows throughout the entire system at the moment, with the 75 mm Daiwa double clutches and the new 4 inch Gulp pulse worms working a treat. Blue bait is also working well on small gang hooks and a lightweight running ball sinker.

Whiting have been on the bite around the four-ways and they are not shying away from top water lures. The Jackson pygmy popper and the new 58 mm Sugapens are working extremely well. Lightly weighted live yabbies have also been catching plenty.

The oyster leases throughout Tuross are holding good size bream and estuary perch. Top water lures are working well early morning - once the sun is up try switching to a grub tail soft plastic like the Squidgie bio 65 mm grub.

Rocks and beaches

The beaches are fishing well up and down the coast. Bream, whiting, salmon and tailor are all being caught targeting the gutters with baits like prawns, beach worms and pillies. Arma brass twisties and Jackson Athlete 9 mm sinking stick baits are also working good on the salmon.

Unfortunately due to rough seas as of late we do not have any offshore reports for this past week.
