Banksia Villages Scholarship – exciting career opportunities in health for Eurobodalla students

Prominent retirement and aged care facility, Banksia Villages Ltd at Broulee, has announced its 2019 scholarship program for Eurobodalla students looking to gain tertiary qualifications in nursing or allied health through the University of Canberra. The merit based program is open to Year 12 students from St Peter’s Anglican College and Carroll College at Broulee, Moruya High School, and Batemans Bay High School. The scholarship provides funding of $7,500 per student over a three-year period for eligible allied health, nursing, and public health courses, offered through the UC Faculty of Health. Scholarship students will be further supported during their program with clinical and work placements at Banksia’s residential aged care facility in Broulee, and through UC. The scholarship was established as part of Banksia’s educational partnership with the University of Canberra. It forms part of a range of education initiatives the not-for-profit charitable company is implementing in pursuit of new and meaningful ways to contribute to excellence and innovation in aged care and to supporting the local Eurobodalla region. The scholarship program commenced for the 2018 academic year, and the company was delighted to award two scholarships to local students in its first year. UC’s Faculty of Health is widely recognised for producing quality graduates and leading health research, and is currently involved in a number of significant projects in the health field. UC also operates a 140-bed hospital and clinical research facility on its Belconnen campus, with an additional 75 day places and outpatient services offering rehabilitation, aged care and mental health services. In announcing the 2019 program, Banksia CEO Graham Wise said the scholarship provides an invaluable opportunity for Eurobodalla students to gain graduate qualifications in allied health, nursing or public health through a highly regarded and established tertiary institution. Applications for the Banksia Villages Ltd Scholarship 2019 program will be accepted between 9am Monday 19th November 2018 and 5pm Monday 26th November 2018.
