Editorial Aug 10th 2018

Welcome to this week’s editorial, This week saw a email arrive saying the Beagle (AKA South Coast Beagle Pty Ltd) had been accepted into the 2018 Eurobodalla Business Awards. All up there are over 70 businesses across the shire and each is under the umbrella of their local Business Chamber. The Beagle is under the Moruya Chamber though it is a newspaper for the entire shire. We very much appreciate all the emails we receive that say thanks for being a community focused news source. Though there are many other excellent businesses nominated this year it would be nice to have a few votes from those who might like to show their support of independent news. If you have the minute it takes to vote for a business in each of the five areas of the shire (Batemans Bay, Mogo, Moruya, Narooma and Tilba) there are some great businesses out there who deserve a tick for what they do and have achieved. When you find yourself on the Moruya Chamber might like to vote for your favourite news source: The Beagle It is slim that your favourite Underdog, The Beagle, will have any chance of winning the 2018 Eurobodalla Business "People's Choice Award" but then Grant Denyer just won the Logies

Remember that The Beagle is listed as South Coast Beagle Pty Ltd in the Moruya Chamber group. You can vote via this link: There is One vote allowed per device :) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018eurobodallabusinessawards

Onto other things. This week’s edition is a bumper read so sit back and enjoy. Next week will see the Councillors returning to chamber and there are fireworks assured as the councillors attempt to take back some of the control that they have lost to the Mayor and staff. If you haven’t had the pleasure of watching a council meeting I recommend starting off watching it via the Live Streaming on the Council website and then building up to go in and watch it all live from the gallery where the body language, the nuances and the behind the scenes are a great revealer of our local politicians, the bureaucracy and the public who attempt to engage them.

Until next , Lei
