Nelligen and shire wide: Register your burns

Volunteers including members of Nelligen Rural Fire Service gave up their weekend on Sunday morning, preparing for the approaching fire season. Runnyford, Mogo, Broulee, Batemans Bay and Nelligen were represented, a cast of around 26 men and women passionate about keeping our area safe from fires. Drafting from a dam, attending a car fire, using water hydrants, relaying water over distances, all in the day’s training. Thank you volunteers! Below is a reminder from one Rural Fire Brigade to its community - the message applies across the shire Dear Nelligen residents. Our volunteers have had 3 Fire ‘call outs’ over the last month, all of which were results of unregistered pile burns. PLEASE register you pile burns by ringing MORUYA FIRE CONTROL on 44742855 during working hours. It’s just a phone call. Failure to notify Moruya Fire Control can attract fines and is a waste of our precious volunteer time! Can you please pass this on / share with your neighbours?

Pictured are our Nelligen volunteers attending a REGISTERED local pile burn recently!

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
