Something's Not Right

Dear Beagle Editor

In response to John Mobb’s letter to the Mayor and subsequent response from the General Manager your readers may be interested in the following:

On page 9 of Otium’s Aquatic Strategy Report, Eurobodalla Swimming Pools Strategic Review in 2005 recommended, inter alia:

Yet, the general manager, in a letter to Mr Mobbs states:

“….This report was undertaken in 2014 to provide an overview assessment of the pool and to identify and prioritise works to assist in keeping the pool operational. This assessment specifically excluded a ‘structural and civil audit’ of the existing Batemans Bay 50m swimming pool.

On page 21 of Otium’s Aquatic Strategy report, the following:

6. Analysis of Current Provision and Performance

6.1 Overview

This section outlines a summary of the condition, catchment and operating performance of Council aquatic centres.

The data is sourced from:

Site Inspection Report - Aquatic Facilities Audit, Eurobodalla, Brown Consulting, 2014

So, despite Otium claiming that there was a ‘structural audit of existing pool shell’ there was no structural audit report done on the Batemans Bay 50m pool (or any of the pools), simply a ‘site inspection report’.

Which is why Council does not want the ‘structural audit report’ released because there is NO STRUCTURAL AUDIT REPORT, just a SITE INSPECTION REPORT.
