Broulee Runners April 25th 2018

The ANZAC holiday attracted 96 starters to this evening’s Broulee run walk. We had two special visitors from Poland in Filip Stefanowicz and Barbara Skowronska, who enjoyed the occasion and walked the 2 kilometres. Others to have their first outing with the group were the Drewsen family of Luke, Erin and Darren, the Greenway family of Andrew, James and Natalie, the Pratt family of Kai and Laila, the Smith family of Susan and Ryan, Georgia Croker, Nick Dunne, Jan Baxter and Tracy Rowley.

The excellent conditions allowed 22 starters to record personal best times. In the 2 kilometres PBs were recorded by Connor McDermott, Mitchell Beby, Daniel Greenway, Poppy and Michelle Mitchell, Michelle McPherson, Tiffany Johnston, Lisa Robbins, Bailey and Julia McDermott, Betty Jeffery, Charley Proksch, Carol and Michelle Marsden and Jenny Halkett. In the 3.5 kilometres the improvers were Jessica Flood and Steve Phipps. In the 5 kilometres the improvers were Josh Connaughton, Amber Brown and the three members of the Gilligan family of Harrison, Vaughn and Brock.

The stars of the evening were Dave Hosking and Selby Johnston, who received their 30-run shirts. Special mention is given to Rhys Flood, who recorded his 100th run. Rhys had his first run in November 2012 and he holds the record in the 2 kilometres with a time of 6.30. He has also competed with distinction at State and National level.
