Is money set aside for sports going elsewhere?

Dear Editor

I have a question for our local member. How can money set aside for regional ‘sporting’ facilities be allocated toward the construction of a leisure/arts facility? It appears that the $18m supposedly to assist regional ‘sporting’ facilities has been hijacked. Minister Constance, can you please use your ministerial powers to dip into some other fund to replace the outdoor 50m you and our mayor have taken away from the swimming club members, PSSA, schools (the children), SLS clubs, triathletes, various ‘sporting’ organisations and pool users and build a new outdoor solar heated 50m pool somewhere between Batemans Bay and Broulee – while you’re at it, can you please build an indoor netball facility with some ‘sports’ money? Swimming and netball have the highest participation rates than any other sport in Australia. To redirect funds supposedly reserved for sporting facilities is unfair for the sporting community in regional NSW. Not very ‘sporting’ is it?
