Nature Coast Marine Group meet with Bega MP

Nature Coast Marine Group has been extensively involved in consultations with government agencies in relation to the ‘Marine Estate’ review that is going on. Last week Nature Coast Marine Group members had a good meeting with Andrew Constance, Member for Bega, who took on board their views on the need for a research officer in the Batemans Marine Park, the significance of the urchin barrens problem, the general shortage of resources in the Park, including in relation to compliance and the need for strong protections into the future. Andrew Constance undertook to discuss some of this with the Minister for the Environment.

The Nature Coast Marine Group are hoping to maintain dialogue with a range of political representatives. Last month they met with Justin Field MLC, the Greens spokesperson on marine issues in the State Parliament and had a good discussion about campaigning approaches.

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
