The Premier, Minister for Transport the Hon. Andrew Constance and Councillor Inness mayor are inviting (by Invitation Only) people to attend a meeting at the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club next Monday March 26 apparently for a chat. RSVP’s are required. Perhaps there’s going to be some big announcements? Maybe they will announce the the State Government has found money to finish the Spine Road? Maybe they will announce they have reconsidered the clearance height of the Bay Bridge and are committing more funds to allow more that a hobbie-cat (or a ferry) to pass under? Maybe they will announce the funding for the Mackay Park Aquatic Centre and include $6m more to cover the 50m pool? Maybe they will announce they have bought the old Bowling Club site and intend to decentralise State Government offices to Batemans Bay injecting much needed funds into the economy and building demand for goods and services? Or maybe they are announcing that they will build a seawall to save Surfside from being washed into the sea? Will they be announcing the reinstatement of the Batemans Bay helipad that went westward to Mackay Oval after Council closed it down. Will they announce a new CAT scanner for the Batemans Bay hospital? Or will they be announcing something for our recreational fishers that will be a major tourism drawcard? It wouldn't have anything to do with being less than a year out from a State election as that would be too obvious so it must be for a BIG announcement? Who knows. I'll be there. Has The Beagle been invited?
