Tuross Community Garden News

Did you know that there is a Community Garden right on your doorstop? Well there is and you’re able to join! To further whet your appetite we thought we’d give you a little update on our recent news!

The weather gods during the past few months have been kind to our beautiful garden on the coast. Rain has fallen during Summer on just about every other day and this has kept our water tanks topped up the garden green and lush. Some of that green however is weeds but you barely notice weeding when you are in great company and take home beautiful fresh produce at the end of a gardening session.

We kicked off this year with a very profitable garage sale that was well supported by our members and the public. We plan to have another garage sale in June and if you are interested in either attending or donating items stay tuned for further information closer to that time.

We also have delicious produce and preserves, jams and other treats to sell at the Easter Fair held at the Tuross Head Country Club on Saturday 31 March 2018. We rely on both the fair and our garage sales to pay for our ongoing insurance fees, running costs and licence.

In the meantime, why not come and see us at the garden – just down the road from Kyla Park Hall and around the corner from the netball courts. Come and visit and have a cuppa at either a Tuesday morning between 9-11am or on a Saturday afternoon between 4-6pm.

The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul. – Alfred Austin.
