FEBRUARY 2018

Welcome to Walking for Pleasure in 2018.

NEW CALENDAR YEAR WALKER RE-REGISTRATION:

Each and every Calendar year the Sport and Recreation section, Office of Communities, NSW Department of Education and Communities requires that all Walking for Pleasure members re-register for the New Year.

Forms can be downloaded from the internet or alternatively, collect the Walker annual registration form or Walk Leader registration form from Peter at any February walk.

Please return the completed form to Peter by the last walk in February!

7 FEBRUARY MALONEYS BEACH: MURRAMARANG NATIONAL PARK

Head north on the Princes Highway and turn right at the Long beach turnoff, about 4.4 km north of Batemans Bay. Drive another 3.8 km and then turn left to Maloneys Beach. Follow through to the end of the beach, turn right into Hibiscus Close, continue on the gravel track at the end and park up near the trees opposite the picnic tables. Today the walk is along a bush track in Murramarang National Park to a

small secluded beach and then return for lunch.

14 FEBRUARY EUROBODALLA REGIONAL BOTANIC GARDENS

Turn off the Princes Highway about 5 km south of Batemans Bay into the Botanic Gardens access road, and meet in the Garden parking area. Today the walk will be around the Limited Mobility Track and tracks 3 & 4 and view Deep Creek dam. Most of the work maintaining and enhancing the Garden is done by volunteers. After the walk, the group will enjoy lunch on the lawn near the cars, or in the picnic area. Bring

insect repellent in case the mosquitoes are bad.

21 FEBRUARY 7 GUERILLA BAY - BURREWARRA POINT

Turn off George Bass Drive into Burri Point Road, and park the cars 400 metres along on the left hand side of Burri Point Road at the top of the hill near the notice board. This extended return walk through banksia and heath to the lighthouse/lookout has excellent coastal views.

28 FEBRUARY BROULEE - CAPTAIN OLDREY PARK—CANDLAGAN CREEK

The meeting place this week is Captain Oldrey Park, Broulee. Follow Coronation Drive (the road along the beach frontage), turn into Francis Street and the Park is straight ahead. The walk will be along the beach to Candlagan Creek and return on the walk/cycleway before returning to the park for a picnic lunch.

Reminders: Four items this first walking month.

  1. Please make sure a Walker Registration Form is filled in and returned to Peter.

  2. Please note new 2018 Name Tags will be provided on payment of Membership Subscriptions of $5 per person that are due in February each year, and usually may be paid to the Treasurer or Peter or Heather Haughton. Always wearing a name tag makes it much easier for others to greet you in this friendly club, and it encourages people to say hello to you. If you need a free replacement or a free second copy of a 2018 name tag to keep in another car, ask Peter.

3) To add your name to the e-mail distribution list, or to change your e-mail address, please send an e-mail to Peter at: pje@haughton.id.au

4) Folding wooden tables may be purchased from Margaret Fletcher. See examples at walks.
