Dear Beagle Editor
My 8 year old grand daughter in Grade 3 brought her school’s newsletter home last week. Published in the newsletter regarding the swimming carnival was this:
Year 2 students who are already 8 or turning 8 years old this year may attend if parents wish them to swim in the 8 years 50m event or any of the junior events. Eight year olds must be able to swim competently and at a competitive level (Squad training or Swimming Club). The Junior events include 50m Breaststroke, Backstroke, Butterfly and 4 x 50m Individual Medley.
We advise parents not to send Year 2 students if they are unable to swim 50 metres.
If Batemans Bay loses its 50m pool, the Swimming Club will die, the Batemans Bay’s district school children’s swimming carnivals will die.
We simply must keep up the fight to keep our 50m pool. We must reject council’s current concept plan and reject their threat that ‘if you don’t take what’s on offer, then you get NOTHING.’
Please support us at our public meeting on 15th February at the Soldiers Club 5.30pm – ‘OUR TOWN – OUR SAY’. Your chance to be heard but WILL COUNCIL LISTEN?
