The Beagle Editor, Here we are smack in the middle of tourist season. As we all know, our elected representatives are constantly spruking about how we should all really be trying harder to attract more of the tourist dollar and yet as usual those same people absolutely refuse to address the same old problems that we have year in year out. The first being the congestion and mayhem on our road systems, the masses of rubbish that appears in our waterways and roadsides and of course our regularly failing water, sewerage and power systems. But this year, in talking to just about everyone who works in retail or hospitality, there has been another major problem that has arisen and that being the mental anguish and toll taken on these people by the incredibly rude and self centred bulk of these people coming to our shire. Seriously,I am in the service industry and this year is by far the worst it has ever been with all age groups being covered by their incredible rudeness and disgraceful attitude toward fellow human beings as they barge, push, shove, disregard and speak down to us as if we are some kind of second rate citizens there specifically for their whims. Some of the stuff so many of us had to endure this season sent us home totally exhausted and there is absolutely no reason any of us should have to endure it, and let me tell you if you questioned any of that behavior you would be amazed at the anger that follows as they just refuse to admit any wrong doing on their part. Its all well and good that our elected reps keep going down the tourist track but this mental fatigue side of it is going to become a real issue and if any of your readers think I am over exaggerating then I suggest they go and work an hour or so in retail or a bar and the like, and then give their opinion. As for the traffic issues in the Bay and Moruya that council just wont address. Believe me, eventually it will only turn tourists away, not entice them. For mine personally I'd be happy to go back to a couple of sawmills and dairy farms 24/7 where life was simple and we were a community of like minded looking after each other . Pete Ward Moruya
