Thousands of airline passengers still face delays in their flights following an air traffic control system failure in Sydney this morning.

Dozens of flights were cancelled and others having delays of more than two hours.

AirservicesAustralia have Tweeted: We have a confirmed technical issue @SydneyAirport. We are working to rectify the issue while managing traffic safely.

Air Services Australia (ASA) said there had been a "system software failure. As a result only a limited number of flights were able to land and depart. The ASA say the glitch had now been resolved. A massive backlog is now being dealt with. As with all travel it is best to check ahead with your carrier. They all have apps and good communications systems so be sure to use them
