The Moruya Tackle World Fishing report 8th September

Moruya and Tuross River

Moruya river has been fishing a little slow this week, but a few good catches have still been reported. Some legal sized bream have been caught using pillie cubes off Quarry Wharf. Schools of tailor are hanging around the same area and taking a liking to most baits on offer.

Flathead are starting to wake up a little in Tuross with reports of extra large fish landed down the front on soft plastics. Congratulations to Wayne who caught and released a 96 cm flattie earlier this week! Trolling deep divers such as the Daiwa pro spike is another good method when targeting the big girls.

Some large perch have been caught around the highway bridge area throwing surface lures into the snags. The Sugarpen 70f has accounted for most of the larger fish.

Rocks and Beaches

Windsock beach has a nice gutter at the moment and it has been fishing reasonably well for salmon using the trusty gang hook and pilchard rig. Pedro Point is also fishing well for salmon and some nice bream have also been caught in the same area using beach worms as bait.

Offshore

Good numbers of flathead are being caught in the 30 metre mark just off Moruya. Californian squid and a paternosta rig has been working great! Reds have been in close around the bombies at Pedro Point. Soft plastics like the 5 inch Gulp jerk shad and swimming mullet are working well. A few good sized Mowies are also being caught in the same area.

Wyangla Dam

Fishing has been tough this week due to the weather. The weekend is here and the weather is looking better, so it’s time to dust off the rods and reels and get out there. As the water warms the fishing will improve. Bait fishing is your best bet at present - fishing around the trees and rocky bank for yellas using worm & yabbies will serve you well.

Pejar Dam

No reports this week. The low pressure has shut the dam down, however this will improve very soon with better weather on the way. Its been a great season for trout fishing with more reports this year than we have had in years! If you haven't fished Pejar in a while get out there, it’s 100% full and looking great.

Upcoming Events: Pejar Trout Classic 15th October

Wollondilly River

No Reports this week due to the wind and cold. There is plenty of little sheltered bays along the weirs that are worth exploring, you might find a new area that holds great fish. Try getting out this weekend and exploring the waterways, at worst you will enjoy the walk!

Tight lines my friends and remember “every day’s a good day for fishing … “
