For all the artists: August 15th



Portia Dunn on display at The Gallery, Mogo The Gallery in Mogo is featuring the colourful works of Portia Dunn up until August 22nd. Portia’s works can be found in many homes throughout Australia and she has won a number of major art prizes. The Gallery is a co-operative venture of Creative Arts Batemans Bay Incorporated (CABBI), a society open to local arts and crafts practitioners. People interested in finding out more about CABBI should drop in to The Gallery or phone 02 4474 2243.

Unearth your local potter The Australian Ceramics Association is holding a nation-wide event on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August. Ceramic Artists and Potters around Australia are opening their doors from 10am to 4pm for the Australian Ceramics Open Studios (ACOS) week end.

In the Batemans Bay Area Rosebud Farm Pottery Studios will be participating. Veteran Potter Ted Watson will be demonstrating and visitors will have the opportunity try their hand on the Potters Wheel. Also there will be some displays of ceramic techniques and the showroom will be open with a selection from the latest firings. It should be a fun couple of days so why not make the short trip up from Surf Beach to 520 Dunns Creek Road have a look and maybe a cuppa.

Pastel Workshop for Beginners run by the South Coast Pastel Society on Saturday 26 August, 9.30am to 12.30pm This workshop introduces beginners to techniques in applying pastel in a modern fauvism style to a canvas board or other surface, by using underpainting and or other media finishing the work with a fixative.
