Moruya Probus to hear of Space and computer security

MORUYA Probus Club members can look forward to a talk about what’s up there and, later, on one on how to cope with computer security. David Petts, who organises the monthly guest speakers, told Tuesday’s committee meeting that this month the speaker would be Miriam Baltuck who could talk about Space. Her experience, he said, included some time with NASA. David said he was also arranging a computer expert to talk at a later meeting on computer security…mentioning a subject that pricked up the ears of a few committee members. Earlier Bruce Imrie had told the committee that the September luncheon would be at the Adelaide Hotel Bistro. That resulted in some discussion about Probus making more use of the Golf Club restaurant, and encouraging Probus members to become social members of the Golf club. There was some talk about encouraging local people to join Probus Club. Some committee members said they knew of people who were interested but feared joining would result in some responsibilities. “They should be informed that all they need do is to become a member,” president Vince Fisher said. “They don’t even have to make a speech.” Apart from the pleasant company, Probus membership gives access to discounts on travel, accommodation, health products and services, as well as better travel insurance deals than found elsewhere. Moruya Probus meets at Moruya Golf Club every fourth Tuesday in the month, starting at ten-o’clock, with the advantage for attendees of staying on for luncheon at the Golf Club restaurant. Anyone interested in joining may contact newsletter editor Ingrid Petts on 4473 6212 or 0425 700 40.
