Vegies for all launch

SAGE's Veggies for All launch was held today at the SAGE Farmers Market, Riverside Park Moruya.

Catherine Potter, President, SAGE welcomed everyone and outlined what SAGE does to increase food resilience in the Eurobodalla. Catherine acknowledged the work of Kathryn Maxwell, Home Garden Coordinator in seeking the corporate sponsorship to run the Veggies for All Project. This project will see up to 100 people attend, for a $10 fee a veggie workshop and up to 50 concession card holders have an above ground veggie bed installed in their garden at no cost.

Leigh Felton, IMB Bank Moruya Branch Manager talked about the IMB Community Foundation and their grant of $6,900 for the SAGE Veggies for All Project.

Nick Hare, Manager Bunnings Batemans Bay talked about Bunnings generous provision of 25 veggie beds for installation in concession holder's homes. Bunnings is keen to support Eurobodalla residents growing their own veggies and herbs. Nick outlined how his Activities Organiser, Krystle Bugden encouraged Bunnings to support the Veggies for All Project.

Kyle Levier, former SAGE intern, amazing local market garden grower, talked about the workshops he will be presenting and what the workshops will cover. That everyone can grow veggies, its not that hard, and what is better than growing your own food.

Kathryn Maxwell, Home Garden Coordinator, SAGE spoke about Phil Timms, from Magendoura Creek Farm who will be providing seedlings at half price for the veggie beds and for workshop participants. No one will go away empty handed.

Kathryn Maxwell also acknowledged that after her request last week Bunnings also agreed to provide 4 large bales of sugar cane mulch for the project.

30 people signed up to one of the 4 workshops at the launch.
