Editorial April 1st, 2017

April 1st and autumn approaches. Daylight saving ends at 2:00 am on Sunday 2 April 2017. It is now more than 10 years since smoke alarms in homes became law in NSW and most smoke alarms don’t last 10 years. This Sunday please check that you have at least one working smoke alarm per level of your home and check to make sure it’s not over 10 years old. Many also take the opportunity to replace the battery in readiness for the approaching winter. With just two weeks till the Tilba Easter Festival we thought it fitting to give you a run down of what to expect this year - and it is going to be a corker. This week The Beagle added a new tool to its utility belt in the way of a video camera to deliver readers video interviews and vignettes to add to the stories and articles we present. We start this week with exit pieces following last weeks Council meeting. The Letters and Opinions section of The Beagle is going great guns covering a wide variety of community issues that remain uncovered by other media. This week we have reactions to Councillor Mayne's idea of changing the rules at the Kings Highway/ Princes Highway intersection to "alleviate" traffic jams. We also have a firm letter about the change in name of Easter Hat Day to Happy Hat Day at a local school for the sake of political correctness and issues regarding the Corrigans Beach Master Plan from splash parks, a concrete labyrinth for market stalls and a proposed fenced dog walking area. until next Lei

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
