Calling Communications Volunteers

Want to help SAGE with our online communications? Got social media, website or e-news skills to share? SAGE needs you.

SAGE uses various communications methods - including facebook, e-newsletter and websites to connect with our members, supporters and the general public.

Our newsletter comes out every month and we aim to make it interesting, topical and informative. The new SAGE website was launched last year and gives a good overview of what SAGE is and our initiatives. We also have a separate Southeast Harvest Festival website and SAGE Farmers Market website. Then there are our three Facebook pages for SAGE itself, the market and the festival, as well as other social media. In addition, we still do "old fashioned" communications such as media releases, newspaper articles, posters and brochures.

And all of this is done by a small group of SAGE volunteers! But we need more help. We need more communications volunteers. So this is a call out for more members to please put their hands to take on responsibility for some of these communications roles.

We need someone with good technical and creative WordPress skills to update and manage the SAGE website. We need someone with good Mailchimp skills to coordinate the production of the monthly electronic newsletter. We need someone with good social media skills eg. Facebook and Instagram, to create and share regular stories and images. Perhaps this is all the same person, but preferably two or three people could share the load and work as a communications team.

We also need to do some planning to more strategically consider exactly what communications and media methods we want to use, how and when, how it all could best inter-link, and who will be responsible for what. So once we get some new volunteers we will run a short planning session to develop a succinct SAGE strategic communications plan.

SAGE is only as strong as its volunteers. Our core team of volunteers who have been coordinating our communications for years are also carrying a lot of other roles, and need to pass these communications tasks to others.

So, if you have relevant skills or experience and are keen to contribute to SAGE communications please get in touch with me to have a chat about the possibilities. Catherine – 0421 728 980 president@sageproject.org.au
