Broulee Dolphins Friday Night Program Ready for Action

Registrations are now open for Broulee Dolphins new Friday night programs, Dusky Dolphins Mini Rugby and Dolphins Access Rugby. The club will run the two 10 week programs, each Friday night in Term 2, from 5:30-6:30 at Captain Oldrey Park, Broulee. The cost of each of the programs is $40 per child.

Dusky Dolphins Mini Rugby is an introduction to rugby union program designed for 4-9 year olds. The program is skill and game based, focussing on developing essential motor skills for rugby union and sporting participation in a fun and friendly environment. Under 4-7 year olds play a touch version of rugby union as well as developing important skills such as running, passing, catching and kicking. Under 8-9 year olds play Walla Rugby, which introduces them to the tackle element of rugby, as they continue to develop their running, passing, catching and kicking skills. The program is run by fully accredited coaches and referees.

Dolphins Access Rugby is a first for the South Coast. In a quest to make the game of rugby accessible to all, the Broulee Dolphins have introduced a modified rugby program for junior players with a disability or additional needs. 'Dolphins Access Rugby' will cater to players from 9 to 18 years, who would not usually be able to play the game of rugby. The program is styled on the Viva 7s format and is safe and non-contact. Each session will be comprised of both skills sessions and games so that players can learn and experience the game of rugby. Players will be provided with a mentor to assist them throughout each of the sessions. The Broulee Dolphins are very proud to be able to open the game of rugby to all.

We are also very happy to announce that the programs have received a $3000 grant from the NSW Office of Sport. The 2016/17 Local Sport Grant was supported by Andrew Constance to keep the cost of the programs to a minimum for our participants and to help purchase uniforms and equipment. We are very grateful to the Office of Sport and Mr Constance for their generosity.
