Diary of a Wombat comes to Bermagui

Saturday 8 April 2017 | 11am | Bermagui Community Centre

Millions of young people around the world have adored the multi award-winning picture book, Diary of a Wombat by Australian Children’s laureates Jackie French and Bruce Whatley. Bermagui will enjoy this beautiful and iconic work when it comes to the Community Centre on Saturday 8 April 2017.

Monkey Baa Director Eva Di Cesare and a team of revered creative artists, including Puppetry and Movement Director Alice Osborne (War Horse 2012/13), Designer Imogen Ross (Hitler’s Daughter) and composer/cellist, Oonagh Sherrard, use the magic of puppetry and live music to bring this delightful story for ages 3+ to the stage.

Meet Mothball, the naughtiest wombat in Australia. Bored with her daily routine, Mothball goes in search of shelter and food, creating chaos in the lives of the humans around her. Doormats, bins and washing lines are no match for this mischievous marsupial. Between a packed schedule of scratching, sleeping and eating, Mothball discovers that with a bit of persistence, humans are quite easily trained!

“We've assembled an extraordinary team of artists to bring this iconic picture book to life,” said Eva Di Cesare. “Diary of a Wombat is such an enduring childhood classic and audiences are going to fall in love with Mothball all over again when she burrows her way on to our stage.”
