Chase the Sun – Quarterdeck Narooma Sat 18th Mar

Chase the Sun – Saturday 18th March Chase The Sun infuse their take on the blues with loud guitar, blazing hard funk and a cranking 70’s southern rock feel. Ten years ago Chase The Sun burst onto the Australian blues and roots scene with a passion and fire little heard since the early seventies. They released two critically acclaimed albums that, at one time, were charting together at #1 and #2 respectively on the iTunes blues charts. The trio then promptly went into semi-retirement for four years (popping their head up for the occasional hometown show and festival appearance). The pressures of life on the road didn’t appeal to everyone in the band, and an act many thought poised for greatness went into creative hiatus. Chase The Sun features Jan Rynsaardt, one of the best guitarists and most passionate performers around, but you’d never hear it from him. With a genuine modesty unsurpassed in the blustery blues-rock scene, Rynsaardt is all about getting on with it, and the killer guitar solo on ‘Live It Up’ sees him back at his blazing best. The new single, and album to follow, should go some of the way to satisfying the band’s army of loyal supporters who’ve been waiting a long time for some new music, while also likely to earn the band some new fans along the way. Live artist of the year at the 2012 Music Oz Awards Debuted on the Billboard Blues Charts at #13 in September 2008 Nominated for two Music Oz Awards and took home best Instrumental group in 2010 Nominated for six out of seven Chain Blues Awards 2008 and took home best Australian Blues band and Best Blues song for “You Gotta Go” Chain Blues Awards 2010, the band took home best Australian Blues band as well as best album and best producer for the album “Rednecks and Gentlemen”. Chase The Sun has performed at the following festivals: Bluesfest 09/10, Sydney Blues festival 09/10/11, Narooma Blues Festival 07/08, Peat’s Ridge Festival 07/09/10/11, The Broadbeach Blues Festival 08/09/10/11/12, Thredbo Blues Festival 08/09, Cooks River Festival, Launceston Blues and Roots Festival, Coast Festival, Towradgi Blues Festival, Great Southern Blues Festival Narooma, Both Chase The Sun albums have been released in Japan by the Label P-Vine. They have received great responses and airplay in Poland, Belgium, Texas, Argentina and the UK as well as blues and roots based radio all across Australia.
