Purify your air & enhance your health with Himalayan salt lamps

Have you noticed when you walk along a beach breathing in the sea air, you feel so much more energised, relaxed and have a general feeling of well being. One of the reasons is we are breathing in this healthy sea air which is charged with negative ions. Negative ions have been proven to increase our absorption of oxygen as well as balance our serotonin levels.

Although most of us are in fact fortunate to live near a beach, we obviously aren’t at the beach 24/7. There is however a way to access those negative ions 24/7 through Himalayan Salt Lamps. Apart from looking very attractive, Himalayan Salt Lamps have many health benefits. These salt lamps are made from salt crystals which are believed to be millions of years old from regions near the Himalayan Mountains. Their many benefits include:

- Deodorising and cleansing the air by attracting and absorbing foreign particles such as dust, smoke, pollens and other allergens. One customer reported the smell of stale smoke which had permeated her home was gone after setting up her salt lamp.

- Allergy and Asthma symptoms are also reduced because the salt lamps eradicate the particles of dust, mould, mildew and even pet dander from the air. How often do you stand in a room with the sun streaming in and notice dust particles in the rays of sunshine. I have many customers comment they no longer see these dust particles when their salt lamps are operating. The Himalayan Salt Lamps work in a similar way to an ionizer. As the salt lamp heats up it attracts moisture. The process of evaporation of the water through the salt then releases negative ions into the atmosphere, thereby restoring and neutralising the surrounding air quality. Sodium which is a positively charged ion and chloride which is a negatively charged ion become neutral and when emitted into the atmosphere help to reduce pollutants such as allergens and toxins. Balancing these positive and negative ions can also assist in reducing airborne infections.

- Electromagnetic Radiation can be neutralised by using salt lamps. These days our homes and work places are often filled with many types of electrical appliances such as televisions, computers, microwaves, heaters, fluorescent lights just to name a few. These appliances are now being blamed for creating so called “electric smog”, depleting our energy levels, sometimes making us tired and depressed and generally negatively affecting our health because of the positive ions they are discharging. The use of a Himalayan Salt Lamp can help negate the effects of this ‘electric smog” by setting them up near your computer, TV or other electrical devices in your house or workplace.

Sleep can also be affected when we are exposed to too many positive ions in the air. Over exposure can reduce blood and oxygen supply to our brain which sets up bad sleep patterns. Salt lamps are also a perfect night light for young children.

- Increased Concentration and Enhanced Mood can be achieved by the increase in blood and oxygen supply to the brain and other organs, plus boosting serotonin due to the effects of negative ions on the body.

We are often asked what size lamp should I use. A small lamp would suffice for the average bedroom or office whereas I would look at a larger lamp for a living room. Some people dot several small lamps in a room which gives off a lovely ambient light. I suggest you call into our store at 5 North Street, Batemans Bay or phone on 44729737 where we can advise you on the best lamp for your needs.
