Fire permits are REQUIRED

Long Beach 1 was called to a fire in Long Beach. On arriving they found a small pile burn out on a private property. The brigade would like to remind residents and visitors that there are NO FIRES WITHOUT A PERMIT during the Bush Fire Danger Period which generally runs from 1 October 2016 to 31 March 2017, however this can may vary due to local conditions.

A Fire Permit is required for burning activities during the Bush Fire Danger Period. NO PERMITS will be issued until further notice Fire Permits help ensure fire is used safely and minimise the danger to you, your property and the community.

If you are going to burn please read THIS INFORMATION on requirements for permits to be issued. From now on they will be only issued for a 24 hour period. If that expires you will be required to apply for another one.

If you know of anyone going to light a fire please ask them. Have they gone the right way about it?

If in doubt ask. Additionally, Fire Permits are not required for fires for the purpose of heating or cooking, provided that: the fire is in a permanently constructed fireplace; at a site surrounded by ground that is cleared of all combustible materials for a distance of at least two metres all around; the fire is completely extinguished before leaving.
