Dear Editor, I read the article in the SMH "Leaked scoping study on privatisation of NSW's land titles registry offers clues" and learnt that the Baird government wants to sell off our world-class land titling service – Land and Property Information. Like many others who wrote to the paper I do not want to see profit making government organisations sold off to fund new infrastructure such as the 2 billion dollar stadium earmarked from this sale. Governments are elected to govern and that includes providing certain services. In terms of ensuring financial stability and most importantly confidence and the system of Land Titles is one of those services. This is "privatisation" and to hell with the consequences. The Liberals might have been elected back in but that doesn't mean that the Member for Bega can vote for whatever his party wants without consulting his electorate first. He is meant to be our representative; representing us, not just agreeing with his mates. Why weren't we told about the sell off and why weren't we asked if we agreed with it. name and address supplied
