Batehaven fire overnight

Police are appealing for witnesses after a suspicious fire on the state’s south coast early this morning. About 1.10am (Thursday 1 December 2016), emergency services were called to a hostel on Beach Road, Batehaven, following reports it was well alight. Officers from Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze; however, the building was completely destroyed. The hostel was vacant at the time and no one was injured. Officers from Far South Coast Local Area Command attended a crime scene has been established. The cause of the fire is not yet known; however, it is being treated as suspicious.
