ABC South East reported this morning that funds raised by a charity linked to the state government are barely touching regional fire-brigades. Their news item said "Figures crunched by News Limited from the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission found only 16% of the $25 million dollars raised by the New South Wales Rural Fire Service Association in the past three years actually went to the the rural fire service. It's reported a large portion went to a commercial telemarketing company who generates the fundraising."
