Tuross Fishing Club news - Nov 2016

November Goblet is Blackfish with 14 of our members, three ladies, ten men and one junior taking advantage of the good weather to try their luck at winning the Goblet. There was eight Blackfish measured in along with ten Flatties eight Tailor and one Nannygai. The Goblet was closely contested but John Suthern won the day with his 42.7cm fish.

The measure in was held at the Tuross Head Boatshed with about 40 Fishing Club members enjoying the afternoon and as usual Shannon and Casey looked after us very well. The Fishing Club took the opportunity to present Shannon and Casey with a Certificate of Appreciation for their support with the recent very successful Go Fishing Day run by our Fishing Club.

The Junior award was won by Harmony-Rose Paul with a 32cm Tailor and the Turkey award was won by Merv Roberts for landing what he thought was going to be a good size fish but turned out to be a very tiny Blackfish.

November is also our annual Goblet Awards presentation night which was held at the Tuross Head Country Club, this year’s theme was Beach Dress.

Besides handing out the Goblet awards for the 2015/2016 fishing year a special award was made to our Secretary Max Castle for his dedication and the uncountable hours of work he does for our Club.

Max besides being responsible for Angel Rings being installed along much of the South Coast is on many committees, his enthusiasm and commitment to recreational fishing is amazing. Max also won our Club Person of the year award. Congratulations Max.

Next month’s Goblet weekend the last for the 2016 year is 10 – 11 December and the Goblet fish is Flathead. With the weather getting warmer and Christmas coming up fast we expect a great turnout for this Goblet Weekend.
