GIFT AFTERNOON. – The Fancy Stalls for the forthcoming R.C. Bazaar will hold a Gift Afternoon in the Convent schoolroom on Thursday next, 18th instant.
THE JAZZ CRAZE. – We are in receipt from the publishers, Chapmans, Sydney, a copy of the new Saucy Kate Jazz Rag, the most popular society hit of the season.
XMAS FAIR. – Our readers are reminded that the Methodist Church Aid Society will conduct a “Market” in the Centennial Hall this afternoon and evening. Father Christmas will be present with toys and pretty pretties for the little ones.
EUROBODALLA CONCERT. – The promoters, Mrs. J. Heffernan and Miss Jean Rankin advertise in this issue that a concert and dance will take place in the Eurobodalla Hall on Friday night next 19th inst. The proceeds will be donated to the Sacred Heart stall at the forthcoming bazaar.
Would you like to go “over the top”? Well, Sergeant Empey is going “over the top” at the Star Theatre on Xmas eve night, and you can go with him a cheer like mad when you see his fighting devils blow the Huns to pieces.
CONCERT. – The concert and dance promoted by Miss W. Wallace in aid of the Regina Pacis Bazaar Stall was a decided success on Tuesday night, the Mechanics’ Hall being packed to the doors.

EAST COAST RAILWAY. – An excellent articles from the pen of Mr. E. J. Brady, the well known writer, on the necessity of a railway from Nowra to Orbost appears in the Eden “Magnet.” A league has been formed at Eden with the object of securing a through line, a movement which should commend itself to every centre interested therein.

Midshipman W. J. Bull is home from the Naval College on furlough.

Mr. H. J. Bate, representative for the Eurobodalla Shire district sold three Ford cars during the last month.
Seamen Bob Bartlett of the HMAS Australia, is on a visit to his friends in this district.
Miss Beryl Jermyn, who has been confined to her room during the past week, suffering from nervous breakdown, is, we are pleased to say, improving.
A gang of men from the Eurobodalla and Mumbulla Shires was engaged last week in opening the mouth of the Wallaga Lake.
Alexander Georgeane, the Russian deserter, who also employed the name of Haarast, was sentenced to three years imprisonment in Victoria. This was the chap who was first heard of at Wagonga, where he robbed a house. Afterwards he made his way to Nerrigundah, through Belowra, Upper Brogo and on to the Monaro. He was captured by the Cooma police.
BAY SPORTS. – Our Bateman’s Bay sports have arranged an attractive program of athletic, novelty and horse events for Boxing Day, and a wood sawing competition and tug-of-war for the following day, Saturday.
NAROOMA. – (From our Correspondent).
Mr. Myles Lynch left Narooma on Wednesday by the s.s. Wee Clyde. We understand that he will be away for a couple of years, as he intends visiting America for the purpose of gaining experience in the commercial line.
Everyone here is again smiling on account of the splendid rain which has fallen, making everything in the gardens look just lovely.
On Saturday last the Heralds of the King held their annual sale of work in the local School of Arts hall, and despite the inclement weather there was a good attendance. The approximate amount for the whole takings for the afternoon and evening was about £37. After the necessary expenses have been deducted the proceeds will be devoted to the Australian Board of Missions.
Twenty 100 years ago booklets containing articles for the years 1899 to 1918 are available ($6 ea) from the Society’s rooms. Copies of local newspapers from the 1860s to date can be viewed at the Society’s Family History Research Centre (Ph 4474 3224) situated at the rear of the Museum in Campbell St. Moruya (www.mdhs.org.au/publications.html).
