Busy Saturday for NSW SES Batemans Bay Unit

Firstly, six members from both NSW SES Batemans Bay Unit and NSW SES Moruya Unit were assessed as competent in USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) Category 1. This qualification enables General Land Rescue accredited members to assist Fire & Rescue NSW with searches of collapsed buildings. Secondly, just before 2pm today (Saturday) we were responded to a Flood Rescue at Yadboro Flats Camping Ground to support NSW Ambulance with NSW SES Ulladulla Unit.

Due to flooded creeks on our route via Clyde Ridge Road and low cloud preventing helicopter evacuation, Plan B was executed and NSW Ambulance along with NSW SES Volunteers met The casualty on Western Distributor Road.

We praise the actions of those involved for not driving through flood water to exit Yadboro.
