Do grants go by without Council applications

The Beagle Editor

Many in the community are, and have been, critics of the Local Member myself included, rightly or wrongly. It’s very clear though that unless critics follow Government protocols in relation to financial assistance on a range of matters and follow through with community awareness on all matters, nothing will or can be achieved. Recently the Local Member The Hon Andrew Constance has been advising community groups and most likely Council, to seek out funding and assistance on a range of matters. If that isn’t occurring the elected members, councillors of the Eurobodalla Shire, are letting the shire's residents down. The allocation of public money in the form of “grants” is not a direct result of Politicians efforts. Government agency’s during the usual budget processes make allowances for the redistribution of public funds in the form of “grants” all the politicians do is pass budgets that allow Councils, Groups and individuals to apply for grant funding through various Government Agency’s. Grant approvals and application assessments are finalised by a range of Public Servants working in the various Government established systems.
