Tuross Fishing Club report Jan '17

January is the month where Whiting is the Goblet species. It is also the time of the year when Whiting are most abundant. As usual, Whiting was not the only species that could be entered for the tournament and as a result there were a total of fifty seven fish entered.

Of these fifty seven entered fish, there were twenty one Whiting, fourteen Bream, eight Blackfish, eight Dusky Flathead, six Sand Flathead and one Tailor. Husband and wife team of Neil and Pam Alexander fishing for the goblet fish on the same boat provided a very close contest Pam catching a nice whiting at 42.5 cm and then Neil went one better by landing a 44cm monster which took out the goblet and new club record for Whiting.

During the measure-in proceeding the Mystery fish was drawn with number eight coming out and was Flounder. There were no Flounder entered so the prize was not won and will jackpot for the next Goblet weekend which is in February and the goblet species will be Garfish.
